How to Stop Sweating While Sleeping

Many people frequently suffer from sweating while sleeping. It affects teenagers, adolescents but also older people. Because it affects so many different people, the causes of night sweats are quite complex and tend to vary from person to person.

Although a hot sleeping environment can be a cause of night sweating, most often it is something more complex. When a person is seriously suffering from night sweats, regularly changing the sheets is not an exception. It is not difficult to conclude that sleeping with wet sheets because of the sweating, will not improve sleep quality and quantity. Therefore a repeated interruption of sleep because of night sweats is considered as a type of sleeping disorder.

Causes of sweating while sleeping

There are many different things that might cause night sweating and therefore it is often hard to pinpoint an exact cause. In general night sweating can be the result of environmental factors but also the result of some serious physical disorder. Listed are some of the possible causes of sweating while asleep.

* Menopause: Hot flashes are typically seen in people with menopause and this might result in night sweats. A hormonal change in your body might cause the hot flashes, but could also result in general sweating at night. When the menopause has passed, the sweating at night will often disappear.
* Anxiety and Pressure: This is probably the most frequently seen cause of night sweats and is especially seen in males. If you are having a hard time at work and this causes a lot of pressure or when you have an anxiety disorder, you might suffer from this sleeping disorder.
* Medication: Medication often do a lot of good in fighting off some diseases but they frequently also have some serious side effects. Especially medication like anti depressants or other psychiatric drugs might cause side effects like night sweats.
* Lymphoma & Tuberculosis: Sometimes physical discomfort like these diseases might cause an outbreak of sweating while sleeping. Treatment of the physical discomfort will often also resolve the excessive sweating.
* Hyperhidrosis: This is a very rare condition but it is known to cause excessive sweating at night. Treatment often exists on medication or surgery.

How to Stop night sweats

Curing this sleeping disorder often depends on the direct cause. If the cause is because of physical discomfort than treating this disease might also resolve the sweating. When you are taking medication and you experience night sweats than consult your doctor. He might give you another drug that does not contains this side effect.
But sometimes treating sweating at night is not as difficult as it sounds. You might look at your caffeine intake and discontinue drinking coffee if you drink it too much. And sometimes different sheet might do the trick. Some people experience more sweating with some fabrics than others so it might be a good idea in trying another type of fabric as sheets or linen.
